Description

Essentially a forerunner of the Type A-1 with button fastening first seen in the early 1920s. The fit is typical 1920s with high armholes, neat fitting body and waist adjustment over the triangular inset at the sides and a typical period style checked cotton lining. These stylish jackets were originally produced by a variety of manufacturers, rather than offer a clone of any one particular maker, we’ve taken our pattern from our original archive jacket but tweaked the styling with minor detailing found on one or two other period examples.

Our version is named “The Aeromarine” after The Aeromarine and Motor Company of Keyport, New Jersey, one of the earliest manufactures of Flying Boats. We’re sure many of the test pilots would have worn these during the pioneer flights of those magnificent aircraft.

Sizing

This jacket is a 1920s inspired design, but unlike many very slim fitting designs of this era, this isn’t an especially slim fit. We typically recommend ordering this style in your usual size.

Additionally, this jacket’s side adjusters are close to the hem and can be cinched in or out to achieve a more relaxed/fitted look around the hips.

For further general sizing information, please see our sizing FAQ section. If you can’t find the answer you’re looking for there, please get in touch.

Don’t worry, all sizing information displayed here is only a guide. Every order placed is checked over by a member of our production team who will confirm your size selection against your measurements or recommend any necessary changes that need to be made. If you have any specific queries, you can note these in the special instructions box on the ‘measurements’ page when placing your order.
